This Minute Man National Park family session is particularly dear to my heart because it’s my cousin’s family! After many years of living in another state, she and her family moved back to Massachusetts. Her mom, my aunt, thought it would be wonderful for them to have some family portraits. These two little boys are essentially the same age as The Little Mr. One is a year older and the other is a year younger, so they all play really well together.
The grounds of the park are beautiful all year round, but in the spring you can find some wonderful pops of color. It was really fun to work with these yellow flowers during this Minute Man National Park family session.
Anyone who has little boys can tell you that they rarely stand still. They want to climb, run, jump, and pick up all the giant sticks they can find. I loved seeing the creative ways these two boys enjoyed the grounds of the park. Since we didn’t force them to sit still and “pose” for portraits, we captured so much of their personalities! Just a friendly reminder that a portrait of your kids, or your family, doesn’t need to have everyone looking directly at the camera and smiling. Look at each other. Laugh together. Be serious. Hug. And don’t forget a photo of you and your partner! Sure, it’s all well and good to be *in* the photos with your kids. I definitely support that. Why not take it one step further and grab a photo of just the two of you? I love knowing that my cousin has these photos of her family, along with some of her and her husband. Her boys will never be this age again – it’s nice to be able to freeze time.
