Erin had the phone up to her ear, and I could tell she was trying really hard not to cry. “But, you’ll be back in time to walk me down the aisle? Okay. I love you.” An hour earlier, Erin’s mom had returned to her hotel room to get dressed and found the zipper that had been troublesome prior to the wedding day was acting particularly stubborn that afternoon. It. Just. Wouldn’t. Work. Eventually, they had to make a decision. In the two hours between the teary phone call and the start of the ceremony, Erin’s mom had to venture out and find a new dress! One of Erin’s bridesmaids (we’ll call her “Olivia Pope”) had pulled me aside earlier and let me know what was going on, so we were all set to rally when Erin got off the phone. But you know those awe-inspiring people who are able to acknowledge the stress or the worry or the anger and then a few minutes later, are ready to go? That was Erin. She woke up the morning of her wedding to find her back was actually out. An “emergency” chiropractor was called to the hotel. I believe he prescribed vodka (let’s face it, vodka cures pretty much everything, so Erin was in good hands). Then there was her mom’s dress. And the entire morning, Erin smiled. She smiled while got her hair and make-up done. She smiled while she got dressed. She smiled while she slipped on her HEELS. It didn’t matter what anyone was wearing, or that she might only be able to wear her wedding shoes for a little while, because she knew that she was marrying her best friend that afternoon. And her mom made it back in plenty of time to walk her down the aisle. Every wedding has a story. This is Erin and Russ’.
With just the perfect amount of snowfall, Erin and Russ got married at the Gershon Fox Ballroom in Hartford. Talk about an amazing venue – so many wonderful Art Deco details! Everything that happened before they saw each other at their First Look didn’t matter. As soon as they were together, everything melted away. For the rest of the day, it was just the two of them, surrounded by family and friends. This couple couldn’t stop smiling the entire day, and neither could we! So much happiness! So much dancing! And at the end of the night, there were delicious snowflake cookies!
