There’s a quote from the movie Parenthood that I absolutely love, and I think about it pretty much every time I photograph families. A little grandmother says, “You know, when I was young, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster. Up and down, up, down. Oh, what a ride. I always wanted to go again. It was just interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened…so scared, so sick, so excited…and so thrilled all together. Some didn´t like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it.” Life is messy and beautiful, especially when children are involved. Especially when you’ve got one toddler and then twin babies! My goodness! I had such a wonderful time playing with this family and celebrating the arrival of these two little boys. Such a fun and warm and loving home to grow up in! Mom and Dad might have their hands full, but I bet they can’t imagine life any other way!
