Your wedding day has a tendency to fly by. All the time spent planning, and then, whoosh! A blur of dresses and laughing and crying and “I Do’s” and cake and dancing. Caroline and Matt got married at the White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth, which is the perfect venue for a couple who loves to be outside! Since they live across the country from their families and friends, Caroline and Matt were especially excited to be able to celebrate their wedding day with them. Caroline’s uncle actually officiated the ceremony, which always lends a nice personal touch. After the wedding glitter had settled, and life was back to “normal,” I asked Caroline and Matt what their favorite moment from their wedding day was. They told me they loved listening to the toasts. Especially since their wedding guests had a tendency to chime in from the audience! Caroline’s father gave a particularly heartwarming and funny toast, speaking to the benefits of being married for over 30 years. Caroline’s sisters toasted her, and Matt’s Best Man toasted him, in equally entertaining fashion. There’s nothing better than a good wedding toast, and these got everyone happy and laughing (especially when Caroline’s dad tried to set up her sister from the audience), setting the perfect tone for the party! When I asked Caroline and Matt if there was anything they’d do differently on their wedding day, the only change they’d make would be to eat more cake. And if eating more cake is the only change you’d make, I’d say you had a pretty perfect wedding day!
I met Caroline and Matt via Skype since they live all the way over in the Pacific Northwest, so our first in-person meeting was actually their wedding day! Caroline and her bridesmaids, and Matt and his groomsmen, got ready at a hotel on Plymouth Harbor, and that’s where my second shooter Wayne and I met up with them. Once everyone was all glammed up, we headed over to White Cliffs to officially kick off the wedding celebration. After the beautiful ceremony, we photographed Caroline and Matt with their families up in the gardens, overlooking the ocean, and then we took the elevator down to the beach for more photos. Swoon! I could have photographed this group ALL DAY! And the party? The party was FANTASTIC. Caroline and her father tore up the dance floor with a very special Father/Daughter dance to get things started and the guests took it from there! And at the very end of the night, Caroline and Matt snuck away for a few minutes so I could photograph them with the beautiful full moon behind them. No one likes being dragged away from their party, but there’s something so nice about getting a few quiet minutes with your brand new spouse, a few minutes to hold hands, hug, look into each other’s eyes, and just exhale.
Thank you, Caroline and Matt, for inviting me to photograph your wedding! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday! Congratulations!
