Miki and Grant chose the perfect date for their wedding – my birthday! I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a couple totally in love (plus, the Mr. came along to assist and my good friend Allana was the second shooter). Everyone was surprisingly relaxed when we arrived. The day was gorgeous, too. Blue skies, blue ocean. Both the ceremony and the reception took place at the Red Jacket Beach Resort in South Yarmouth, MA. Between the resort and the beach, there was this perfect grassy area for the ceremony, and there were all sorts of fun nooks and crannies to take advantage of for photos! Here are some of my favorites from the day!
Allana and the Mr. started their day off photographing Grant and the guys! I love how Miki’s dad is helping Grant with his tie!
Grant and his best man.
I got to hang out with Miki and her bridesmaids as they got ready for the day. Miki and Grant had traveled to Japan and had traditional Japanese wedding portraits done while they were there. Miki wanted to incorporate the album into some of our photos, so you can see it below in a photo of her engagement ring.
Miki and Grant wanted to do a first look so they could get a bunch of portraits out of the way before the ceremony. I love the moments just before the bride reaches the groom. It’s easy to get all caught up in the anticipation of it all!
Allana asked a random guy if she could come up to his hotel room and shoot off his balcony. Luckily for us, he was happy to oblige! Everyone loves love. And it also meant we got some amazing overhead shots of the ceremony!
We ducked away for a bit after the ceremony to grab a few more portraits! I love how romantic these are.
And the reception! Everyone danced up a storm! I love that the wedding cake had rope around each of the layers – a really nice nautical touch for a Cape Cod wedding!
Miki and Grant had a photo booth at their reception which the guests had a blast using. I’m pretty sure the kids just kept going in over and over and over! And, of course, we needed to hop in before we took off for the night! The guy operating the booth gave us both copies of the strip, so I didn’t think there would be any record of our goofiness. And then I got a facebook message from Miki that read “Nice pic” with a digital copy of one of our photos! Oops! My ridiculousness never goes undiscovered!
Congratulations to the newlyweds! Thanks so much for inviting us to be part of your wedding day!
