A Great Gatsby Wedding at the Providence Biltmore, Abby & Mat: Darling, All the While

Abby walked up behind Mat with a huge smile on her face and a flask in her hand. When she reached him, instead of tapping him on the shoulder so he could turn around, she turned around so that they were back-to-back. On the count of three, they both lifted their flasks to their lips  and took a quick drink. Then they turned to see each other for the first time. It was definitely the first First Look I’ve photographed to involve flasks, but it was the perfect one for these two. Abby and Mat based their wedding around two things – this 1920s, Great Gatsby theme, and everyone having fun. In Abby’s words, she and Mat were most looking forward to “being fancy and eating good food.” Now that’s the kind of party I can get behind! Everything from getting ready to the reception happened at the Providence Biltmore. The Biltmore opened in 1922 and was designed by the same architects who designed Grand Central Station so it had all the perfect 1920s touches that Abby & Mat were looking for in their wedding venue. They carefully curated all the details of their wedding to match their theme, from headpieces to shoes. The two of them looked AMAZING.

Abby and Mat opted to keep things simple and they both got ready in the Biltmore. Abby even utilized their in-house salon and spa for her hair and make-up. My awesome second shooter Allana got to hang out with the guys while they ironed their shirts and slicked their hair and I got to photograph the girls while they got made up and done up. The make-up artists used “contouring” which was pretty awesome to watch. The Kardashians have nothing on these gorgeous ladies! Abby found her Sue Wong dress on Ebay – I could have photographed it all day! The beadwork was so intricate – the dress just shimmered and sparkled the whole day. And her bouquet was handmade out of brooches. Hello, gorgeous! It also weighed a ton! My words won’t do it justice – you’ll just have to see for yourselves!

I just loved photographing every second of this wedding. Not just because of the gorgeous details, but because Abby & Mat made every second amazing. And fun! They truly got the celebration they dreamed about. Prepare yourself for an onslaught of awesome and enjoy the photos!
