Arlington Maternity Session: The Why and Wherefore I'm Alive

Out of all of the different sessions I photograph, I think people are most on-the-fence about maternity sessions. I get it. There’s a small window between “the bump” and total discomfort. When I photograph pregnant women, what I’m really capturing is those moments right before their lives are changed forever. I’m capturing all that love they feel for a little person they haven’t met yet. There can be excitement, quiet, intimacy, and anticipation. It’s such a precious, fleeting time – it really is nice to honor it with photos. This is actually my second maternity session with this family (the product of the first is, of course, featured here!) and I love that they invited me back. We were able to do some little portraits, some multi-generational portraits, and even some fun belly portraits. The best compliment? When dad saw the photos, he said he wished he could have been there to participate! Here are a few of my favorites!
