Photographing Lauren and Chris’ wedding was a huge honor. I’ve known Lauren since we were little, so to be there to help celebrate her marriage to Chris, with their family and friends, was amazing. Lauren and Chris actually live in Australia, so they opted to have a small wedding here in Boston (for Lauren’s local family & friends) and a small wedding in Australia (for Chris’ family & friends). A special shout-out to Chris’ family who traveled all the way to Boston at Christmas time to be here for their Boston celebration! They wanted something small and intimate, so they chose Central Bistro in Downtown Crossing as their venue (it’s now closed- sad face). You actually get married in the lobby of the building (at Christmas time, there is a giant Christmas tree as a background!) and then have your reception in the restaurant. They decorated the venue with gorgeous flowers and tablescapes. Their wedding favors were little ornaments that decorated a little tree in the restaurant. It all made the space so magical!
But first things first, the bride and groom got ready at the Ritz Carlton. They kept things really simple – it was just Lauren and her mom in her room and Chris and his brother in his room. They opted to do a First Look, which we did at the hotel because it was cold, and dark, outside! When it was time to head over to the venue, everyone met in the lobby and walked through Downtown Crossing to get to the restaurant. Lauren’s uncle officiated the ceremony, adding a really personal touch to the service. With the warm lights from the Christmas tree behind them, Lauren & Chris exchanged vows in front of their closest family and friends. The atmosphere was joyous, fitting the occasion and the season. The reception was like a giant cocktail hour – everyone mingling, laughing, catching up, balancing spoons on their noses. And with a small guest list, Chris & Lauren got to enjoy everyone’s company. I managed to steal the happy couple away for a few night portraits – some inside on a crazy spiral staircase, and some outside with all of the city lights. It was the perfect way to really kick off the holiday season! Keep scrolling to see the the people who helped make Lauren & Chris’ day perfect, and to see the photos!
