When I woke up on Saturday morning and peered out my window, the rain was still falling steadily. It was the kind of rainy day you’d see in a movie about summer camp – the hushed morning, the smell of wet summer grass, the plinks of the raindrops hitting the lake. Rain had been in the forecast off and on all week, but we had all been keeping our fingers crossed. Jeanne & Amy had planned a beautiful outdoor ceremony. As the morning went on, the rain stopped. By the time of the ceremony, not only had the rain stopped, but the ground was dry enough to proceed as planned! Which was important because their wedding party had to carefully walk downhill!
Jeanne and Amy opted to do a First Look, so while they got ready separately, we brought them together before the ceremony so they could see each other and just exhale for a few minutes. In my professional opinion, one of the best reasons to do a First Look is because if you are at all nervous before your wedding, seeing the person you love and sharing a few moments with them before you face the crazy, is an amazing way to restore your equilibrium. We also got their cadre of bridesmaids into the act. Their amazing dresses really popped against all the lush greens! The ceremony took place on a lakefront lawn across the street from the wedding venue, The Village Inn and Tavern. Witnessing the outpouring of love from Amy and Jeanne’s family and friends was emotional – lots of tears and lots of laughs. Just as palpable was the love these two women share with each other. When I got home from their wedding, I immediately sat down and started a draft of this blog post. It only had one sentence.
I love the way Amy looks adoringly at Jeanne when she isn’t looking. I love the way Jeanne smiles at Amy with her whole body.
That is all you need to know about this couple. They love each other with every fiber of their beings. And they love to laugh together.
A special thanks to my second shooter Sarah! Here are some of my favorites from Amy & Jeanne’s wedding day….
