Music has always played an important part in my life. Just read the blog post titles – all song lyrics! I have no musical talents of my own, so I rely on the musical talent of others to fill me up. Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do. The Mr. and I love seeing all different artists – small indie awesomeness like our good friend Krista Baroni to Justin Timeberlake and Prince. The more concerts I went to, the more I started paying attention to the lights. As caught up as I was in the music and the experience, I also couldn’t help but see the performance photographically. That being said, I had never photographed a concert before. So, this winter I decided to challenge myself. I reached out to a friend of mine whose husband is in a band and asked if I could photograph them sometime. As it turns out, the band was happy to have me along and I got to photograph them performing on a bill at The Sinclair in Cambridge (if you haven’t been, it’s a great little concert venue). The name of the band? The Power of Love. They are a Huey Lewis and the News cover band. Yes, that exists. Yes, it’s even more awesome than you’d imagine. And, of course I had to photograph the other bands, too. It was an amazing night and SO ENERGIZING! I wasn’t sure what I’d end up with since it was a new experience for me, but I was so happy with the way the photos turned out. Check ’em out!
