This mama-to-be knew exactly how to make her daughter feel special before the new baby arrived. The two of them traveled to Martha’s Vineyard for a little babymoon and spent lots of quality time together. She also scheduled this maternity session for just the two of them! The South End has some gorgeous hidden parks and the flowers were all in bloom. The Hancock building shines through in the background.
You may recognize this gorgeous mom from earlier sessions – she has been in front of my camera a number of times! She started out as my friend, and then modeled for me when I wanted to experiment with new props, locations, or lights. We’ve now done engagement photos, wedding photos, maternity photos, and many family photos, and now we’re back to maternity again! These two are just the sweetest together and I loved being able to capture than unbreakable bond between mother and child. K is so excited to be a big sister – I know she is going to rock it!
When we photographed K as a newborn, we took a photo of her curled up in front of mom, right where mom’s pregnant belly used to be. It matched a photo we took at M’s first maternity session. At this session, we added a new photo to the series. K curled up right next to mom’s belly, mimicking the earlier photos. I love these images so much. They are so tender and sweet and intimate.
We also photograph their faces together like this when we have sessions. We started when K was a newborn and now she’s 4!
*when M and I were kids, we worked so hard to memorize all the words to “We Didn’t Start the Fire”; it seemed fitting to use a line as her blog post title!
