Lexington Bat Mitzvah Portraits: Floating Like A Butterfly

According to Wikipedia, the great encyclopedia in the ether, a Bat Mitzvah “signifies becoming a full-fledged member of the Jewish community with the responsibilities that come with it.” The celebration often consists of a religious service and then a party. Depending on the ceremony, sometimes you aren’t allowed to take photos in the Temple during the service, so families will arrange for portraits at a different time! Which is exactly what this family did. I met them at the Temple the day before the ceremony so we could take some family portraits as well as get some photos of the celebrant reading the Torah. I was lucky enough to photograph her brother’s Bar Mitzvah last year, so everyone was comfortable in front of the camera! So much preparation has to go into the big day – such a wonderful accomplishment! Here are the portraits, party photos to follow…
