Fresh 48 sessions are definitely high on my list of favorite things (along with m&ms, the movie Annie, Los Angeles movie theaters, etc…), but they are notoriously hard to schedule! Babies make their own schedules, so you never know when they are really going to arrive. On the day this little guy made his way into the world, I wasn’t able to make it to the hospital. Instead, we scheduled this family’s Fresh 48 session for the day after they arrived home.
One of the things I love about Fresh 48s is that they aren’t planned or staged. Whether at the hospital or at the house, they are much more “documentary” than my typical portrait session. I still capture some more “posed” shots, but the focus is really on the interaction between family members. I loved having some time to focus on just big brother, and then on the start of his relationship with the new baby.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: I am so grateful to the families who welcome me into their homes after having a baby. It is such an intimate time in your life while you all adjust and to be able to capture that is a real honor.
Here are some (okay, a lot) of my favorites from this Fresh 48 session…
