Shannon and Mike got married on one of those days where it drizzles the whole day except for the hour we needed for outdoor photos. Amazing. Their ceremony was held at St. Dominic Chapel at Providence College, which is where they met as college students! I love when couples choose ceremony locations (and officiants) who are special to them. The bride and groom both got ready for their big day at The Providence Biltmore hotel, right in downtown Providence and across from the State House. My second photographer, Mark, hung out with the men before the ceremony, while I spent some time with the bride and her most important ladies. True Focus Films was also there to film the day and share in all the fun!
One thing you should know about Shannon and Mike – they are totally in sync. Especially on the dance floor. They had some mad ballroom dancing skills. Ballroom dancing requires so many of the things that marriage does – the ability to trust, have fun, and compromise; the ability to move backwards when your partner needs to move forwards occasionally; the ability to learn complex steps, to pay attention to even the subtlest of signs from your partner; and the ability to let go of all your inhibitions and all of the distractions and just see that one person right in front of you, that one person who loves you most in the world. Shannon and Mike, it was wonderful watching you dance. You’ll also see that Mike even serenaded Shannon at one point in the evening! Here are some of my favorite photos from the Providence Biltmore wedding of Shannon and Mike…
We took advantage of the rain-free day and used the Rhode Island State House for all of the formal photos. It made a gorgeous backdrop for everyone!
Funny thing… the hotel was actually struck by lightning the night before the wedding. It toyed with the power of the a/c a little bit, but no one even noticed! They were so caught up in the wedding celebration, it didn’t matter! If you want to see more of Shannon and Mike’s wedding, you can check out the video from True Focus Films!
