Meredith and Chris met playing indoor soccer together, although they never really noticed one another until Meredith’s weekly ride fell through. In classic rom-com tradition, even though it was nowhere near on his way, Chris gave Meredith rides to and from soccer for two months. They managed to bond over music, went to some concerts together, and as they say, the rest is history! These two love sports (both watching AND playing) – Chris described Meredith’s soccer playing style as “not the most technically gifted soccer player on our team but it was clear that what she lacked in skill she more than made up for with a fierceness derived from a semi-psychotic hatred of losing.” It could be said they both have a bit of a competitive streak. 🙂 So what happens when two competitive, outdoorsy, funny people meet and fall in love and get married? They plan an amazing New England wedding with some of the BEST toasts I’ve ever heard in my ten years of photographing weddings.
Meredith and Chris chose the historic Robert Treat Paine Estate, Stonehurst, for their wedding venue and it did not disappoint. It’s a beautiful old New England estate designed through a collaboration between two Boston-based craftsmen: architect Henry Hobson Richardson and landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted (Olmstead designed Central Park and Boston’s Emerald Necklace). The venue offers amazing ceremony options, gorgeous spots for photos, and a fabulous patio for cocktail hour. Thankfully, Mother Nature was kind to us the day of Meredith & Chris’ wedding and we were able to take advantage of all of it! Meredith and Chris opted to do a First Look, so once everyone finished getting ready, we got Chris into position to see his bride for the first time. She took his breath away. We managed to fit in all the wedding party and family photos before the ceremony, too! That worked out perfectly because Meredith and Chris’ Best Men gave their toasts during cocktail hour instead of during dinner. When Meredith’s brother spoke, he transitioned from talking about Meredith to talking about Chris and suddenly pinched the bridge of his nose and wiped away some tears and said, “Why am I crying over you?!” Meredith and Chris doubled over laughing. It was a perfect wedding moment. Throughout all the speeches, Meredith & Chris were so expressive. You might not be able to hear the words through the photos, but you can certainly feel the emotion! And then, surrounded by historical portraits blended with Meredith & Chris’ wedding decor, they spent the rest of the night celebrating with their family and friends!
