Learning each couple’s unique love story is one of the best parts of this gig. Shannon and John first locked eyes at a mutual friend’s 40th birthday party. They struck up a conversation about the Pope of all things and John impressed Shannon with his way of thinking. John claims his first thought about Shannon was “Who’s the cutie?.” I’m not sure papal discussions are a popular pick-up strategy, but it worked for these two! They started dating and it immediately felt like home.
Family is so important to these two and they wanted their wedding to reflect that. All the nieces and nephews played a huge part in the wedding and added some extra adorable to the day. Shannon’s uncle officiated the wedding, which added a nice personal touch to the ceremony. Shannon and John organized their day around maximizing dance time, too. And man, could this group party! At one point, everyone sat down on the ground and formed boats and then rocked back and forth to the song “Rock the Boat.” In over a decade of photographing weddings, that was a first for me!
