There’s something undeniably magical about spring weddings in New England. On a warm May afternoon, I had the joy and honor of photographing my cousin Ian’s Wayside Inn wedding in Sudbury, MA—a place steeped in history, charm, and timeless beauty.
The Wayside Inn is one of the oldest operating inns in the country, with colonial-era architecture, quaint gardens, and a peaceful mill pond. It was the perfect setting for a day full of love, laughter, and heartfelt celebration. In the room where Allison got ready, also known as Jerusha’s Room, you can find notes and other odds & ends, tucked into cracks in the ceiling (see below for a photo). Supposedly the notes report on any ghost activity, but I think they are also love notes and markings of time. I did not pull any out to read them. They definitely added to the unique and romantic charm of the inn!
Allison went with an Old Hollywood glamour look for her bridal aesthetic, and she absolutely looked stunning (special shout-out to Edra Couture Bridal!). I love a birdcage veil! You can tell by his reaction to the first look that she wowed Ian, too. I love when a groom twirls his bride so he can enjoy the full effect of the look!
The ceremony took place in the gardens of the Wayside Inn. Everything was in bloom, adding that springtime color to the day. The reception took place in one of the inn’s cozy dining rooms. Allison & Ian planned to throw a larger party later in the year, so the result was a truly lovely intimate dinner for family.
Photographing a family member’s wedding is always special. I’m so proud of the love Allison and Ian have built and thrilled I could preserve these memories for them.
